Cardiff City 2 Liverpool 2 AET, 2-3 on penalties League Cup Final, Wembley
Nine days on from the League Cup final at Wembley, and my voice has just recovered from all the singing and shouting. My disappointed heart is also on the mend, and the pride of our brilliant performance in the League Cup final is starting to outweigh the heartache.

Cardiff City 1 Crystal Palace 0 a.e.t., 3-1 on penalties, League Cup semi-final 2nd leg
For the fourth time in under four years Cardiff City are to play at Wembley, and although the win on penalties against Crystal Palace last week might not have been convincing, it was thoroughly deserved. Norwegian Jonathan Parr was one of three Palace players failing to score on penalties, but it was Tom Heaton who was the hero with his two fine saves.

Cardiff City 2 Blackburn Rovers 0, League Cup
Just a few weeks after being embarrassed by Wales when playing for Norway at the Cardiff City Stadium, Morten Gamst Pedersen returned to Cardiff only to be humiliated again. The experienced midfielder even made the error which led to Cardiff’s first goal on Tuesday, and although it was hardly an upset that Cardiff managed to beat the Premier League strugglers, it still was a great result for us. Mother luck stood us by in the semi-final draw. Crystal Palace is a tough but beatable opponent. Wembley beckons!

SK Brann 1 Aalesunds FK 2, Norwegian Cup Final
Norwegian Jonathan Parr was an unused sub for Crystal Palace in our excellent win over the Eagles on Saturday. On Sunday Parr went to Ullevaal Stadium in Oslo for the Norwegian cup final, and although he of course didn’t play there either, he at least left the ground happy and with a cup winners medal, as his former club Aalesunds FK, for whom he played in a few cup rounds before his transfer to Palace, beat my Norwegian favourites, SK Brann, 2-1.

International Bluebirds and Dave Jones’ public Cardiff City closure 04/09/2011

Cardiff have an impressive number of players on international duty at the moment. Wales finally won with Darcy Blake at center back, Aron Gunnarsson was out injured for Iceland versus Norway, but Kenny Miller was in great form for Scotland. On Sunday I watched with great interest Sky Sports’ “Goals on Sunday” as Dave Jones was one of the guests. It was good to see Jones again for the first time since he left Cardiff, and I felt his appearance on the show became like a public closure for his relationship with Cardiff.
