The players must have forgot we’ve entered November yesterday as they convincingly brushed aside Derby!

Leeds United 1 Cardiff City 1
I watched this televised match as the sole Cardiff supporter surrounded by around 30 Leeds United fans at Fotballpuben in Bergen, and although we didn’t win, the 1-1 draw at least dampened the LUSCOS (Leeds United Supporters Club of Scandinavia) party! In the end it was a good away performance and a good point for us against a strong Leeds side.

Cardiff City 1 Burnley 0, League Cup 4th round
During the second half of the League Cup match against Burnley yesterday, it hit me that I could not remember a single season in my 23 seasons as a Cardiff supporter that we had progressed very far in this tournament. Quick research showed that my memory didn’t serve me quite right. Actually we’ve progressed a few rounds in the last ten years, but since we last were in the quarter finals 46 years ago our League Cup runs have tended to be very short.

While Norway slowly recover from last Friday’s shocking atrocities where at least 76 people were killed, Cardiff City continue the preparations for the upcoming season. Most notably three more players have come in since my last post, Sloavakian U21 international Filip Kiss on a season long loan, Scotish international and prolific goalscorer Kenny Miller and last but not least the talented Frenchman Rudy Gestede, bringing the total number of newcomers this summer to nine. That’s one more than big spending and ambitious Leicester City, who, at least in the eyes of many bookmakers, are emerging as one of the favourites for promotion.

It’s been over a month since my last post, and so much has happened! Most importantly Malky Mackay has been appointed new manager, and with the new boss already having come far in his rebuilding of Cardiff City with new staff in place and five new players signed, these are very exciting times!
