Cardiff City 2 Leicester City 2 a.e.t., 7-6 on penalties, League Cup
It’s good to be through to the fourth round of the League Cup, although Burnley at home wasn’t exactly a dream draw. Like in the two first round of the League Cup, extra time were needed for us when Leicester City came to the Cardiff City Stadium on Wednesday, and like in the second leg of the Play Off semi final versus Leicester in 2010 Cardiff won on penalties – even without Yann Kermorgant among the Leicester penalty takers!

Blackpool 1 Cardiff City 1
The tactics were spot on and the play was excellent but still we only came away with one point against our 2010 Play Off final adversaries, Blackpool.

Cardiff have an impressive number of players on international duty at the moment. Wales finally won with Darcy Blake at center back, Aron Gunnarsson was out injured for Iceland versus Norway, but Kenny Miller was in great form for Scotland. On Sunday I watched with great interest Sky Sports’ “Goals on Sunday” as Dave Jones was one of the guests. It was good to see Jones again for the first time since he left Cardiff, and I felt his appearance on the show became like a public closure for his relationship with Cardiff.

My plans to go to bed early were squashed Tuesday night by two teams eager to progress to the third round and possibly be drawn against Premier League opposition in the next round.

It’s been over a month since my last post, and so much has happened! Most importantly Malky Mackay has been appointed new manager, and with the new boss already having come far in his rebuilding of Cardiff City with new staff in place and five new players signed, these are very exciting times!
