After our sad Play-Off exit at Upton Park on Monday,  this post was supposed to be about how we should now shake that disappointment off quickly, take positives from a surpisingly good season and start looking forward to a bright future. The shocking news that the Malasyian owners have decided to change our club colours and badge for next season have made me see red though, and all I can write about now is how both saddened and angered I am by this unwise and insensitive stunt.

Cardiff City 0 West Ham United 2, Play-off semi-final, 1st leg

Our hopes of reaching the Premier League this season are sadly all but over after the 0-2 home defeat agianst West Ham on Thursday, and the worst thing about that is that keeping my seven year old son a Cardiff supporter seems a lost cause.

In between our recent good results and stride towards a top six finish in the Championship, there was sad news as former Cardiff City manager Eddie May died in his sleep on the 14th of April, aged 68.

After an exciting run in, Cardiff City vs. West Hamit was great to see City clinch sixth place and secure a place in the Play Offs with that impressive 2-1 away win at Palace having been a goal down at half time. Just being in the Play Offs is a fantastic achievement by Malky Mackay and his newly assembled Cardiff City, and although we objectively probably are fourth favourites to make it all the way to the Premier League now, I have a strange sense we might do just that!

Cardiff City 0 Millwall 0

Yet another draw, our sixteenth in the Championship this season, and another missed opportunity to get back into the Play Off places with other teams still amazingly failing to finish our hopes off.

Birmingham City 1 Cardiff City 1

As other results in the Championship keep going in our favour and after the solid performance and decent point away at Birmingham, our hopes of a top six finish are revitalized. Here in Norway the new season got underway on Sunday, and a couple of Championship rejects made the headlines.

Cardiff City 0 Burnley 0

Before Sunday’s match against Burnley, Malky Mackay  stated,  in the same vain as his predecessor Dave Jones liked to do,  that there’ll be many “twists and turns” from now until the end of the season. Hopefully he’s right, because the dull 0-0 draw against Burnley and failure to go fourth does not bode well for the remaining nine games. It sadly seems that City have gone from energetic overachievers to now being tired underperformers.

It comes with being a Cardiff City supporter to wish Swansea City all the worst, but should the Jacks (as seems likely) manage to keep their Premier League status this season, it might actually not be just bad. (more…)

Cardiff City 0 Hull City 3

Norwegians will get the headline pun. After the good away win at Bristol City on Saturday, I thought we had turned the corner and envisioned three home wins to come. After our poor performance and grim season worst home scoreline of 0-3 against Hull, we fell out of the Play Off places and figuratively into a hole (which is hull in Norwegian) that we need to climb out of pretty fast if promotion is still to be a possibility this season.

Bristol City 1 Cardiff City 2

It wasn’t the best of performances from City this season and we even needed two own goals to win, but it was three very important points secured and they were particularly welcome coming in the televised Severnside derby!
