Welcome to Cardiff City’s first summer signing, Joe Lewis, who will be replacing Tom Heaton on the bench as David Marshall’s deputy. It’s great to have captured a keeper of Lewis’ stature, but it also makes me ponder over the strange profession of second string goalkeeping.

Kudos to the Malaysians for quickly reacting to the fans opposition against the re-branding by scrapping all plans for red as our colour and dragon in our badge! Having reiterated their commitment to the club after the board meeting earlier this week I hope the owners will now start addressing all the financial issues clouding the blue sky.

After our sad Play-Off exit at Upton Park on Monday,  this post was supposed to be about how we should now shake that disappointment off quickly, take positives from a surpisingly good season and start looking forward to a bright future. The shocking news that the Malasyian owners have decided to change our club colours and badge for next season have made me see red though, and all I can write about now is how both saddened and angered I am by this unwise and insensitive stunt.

Cardiff City 0 West Ham United 2, Play-off semi-final, 1st leg

Our hopes of reaching the Premier League this season are sadly all but over after the 0-2 home defeat agianst West Ham on Thursday, and the worst thing about that is that keeping my seven year old son a Cardiff supporter seems a lost cause.

In between our recent good results and stride towards a top six finish in the Championship, there was sad news as former Cardiff City manager Eddie May died in his sleep on the 14th of April, aged 68.

Hammer time and Premier League within reach after brilliant sixth place finish 01/05/2012

After an exciting run in, Cardiff City vs. West Hamit was great to see City clinch sixth place and secure a place in the Play Offs with that impressive 2-1 away win at Palace having been a goal down at half time. Just being in the Play Offs is a fantastic achievement by Malky Mackay and his newly assembled Cardiff City, and although we objectively probably are fourth favourites to make it all the way to the Premier League now, I have a strange sense we might do just that!
