No-fluke Cardiff City march on 22/11/2011

Reading 1 Cardiff City 2
A grumpy and moaning Reading manager Brian McDermott at the post match press conference was a pleasure seeing and it tells me we’re doing something right. After this strong away win I’m starting to believe that Cardiff City are up for a promotion push this season, and Peter Whittingham is a big part of the reason for that.
McDermott can not seriously mean that Whittigham’s stunning shot to make it 1-0 was a fluke. In a situation where others might have concentrated on taking the ball off the opponent who had it, Whitts smartly took advantage of Jimmy Kebe (I think it was) kicking the ball slightly too far in front of him when bursting forward after two great City chances and whacked it towards goal.
Of course it was a bit of luck involved, as the ball could have gone wide or Federici in the Reading goal could have reached it.
But it was no fluke.
Whittingham meant to shoot at goal to score.
And he did.
As I write this tonight’s away match at struggelers Coventry has just kicked off.
A draw or a win would see us go third.
C’mon Bluebirds!
