Portsmouth 1 Cardiff City 1

Flashback: Saturday the 16th of April 2011. Outside the Cardiff City Stadium. The Portsmouth players arrive for an away match against promotion chasing Cardiff. The first players who come out of the coach are greeted by Bluebirds supporters wanting their autographs. Then Nwankwo Kanu appears. Instant booing and bantering erupts! The reason was of course that Kanu was the player to win the 2008 F.A. Cup final at Wembley for Portsmouth against Cardiff when he scored the only goal of the match. On Saturday Kanu netted against us again, but this time it only ment securing a draw for Pompey. Luckily Portsmouth’s Norwegian newcomer Erik Huseklepp did not have a good home debut, and Cardiff could head home to South Wales with a point.

Cadiff City 1 Brighton And Hove Albion 3
Burnley 1 Cardiff City 1

The honeymoon period is over for Malky Mackay and all his new players and staff. It’s good to know that there are still 42 League games remaining and that, like Dave Jones liked to put it, there’ll be a lot of twists and turn before the end of the season. There will probably be quite a few new signings, both permanent and loans, between now and May as well. At the moment I’m preparing for a season of mid-table nothingness though.

After a first half where the Jacks manage to do a lot of what they to best – pass the ball neatly around without achieving anything – it was good to see Manchester City let their complete superiority count after the interval to end up deserved 4-0 winners yesterday.

Cardiff City 3 Bristol City 1

The 1-0 victory away against West Ham was the perfect start to the season. Today’s comprehensive Severnside derby win was the perfect follow up and a great way to start the season at home. That Robert Earnshaw scored and got to do his trademark somersault celebration in front of the home crowd was particularly pleasing.
